Main Features

Nitrided Ferro Manganese is an essential alloy agent for special alloy steel, stainless steel and heat resistant steel. It is usually obtained by filling nitrogen with medium and low carbon ferro manganese. nitrided ferro manganese is mainly used as nitrogen additive in steelmaking, which can improve the mechanical properties ,such as strength of steel,refine grains and stabilize austenite.

There are high content of the main elements of nitrided ferro manganese, low content of phosphorus and other harmful impurities. Nitrogen can improve the strength and plasticity of steel, expand the austenitic region, refine grain and improve its processing performance. Manganese nitride can replace some nickel and reduce the cost.

 

Domestic and international situation

Nitrogen-containing ferromanganese can be used to smelt multi-component alloy steel,where the nitrogen can improve the strength and plasticity of steel and expand the austenitic region of steel.

Therefore, nitrided ferromanganese can replace nickel in many steel grades in stainless steel, and nickel is a rare and valuable element. Ferromanganese nitridation can be divided into liquid nitridation and solid nitridation. Solid nitridation is that the solid low-carbon ferromanganese powder contact with nitrogen ,which is nitrided in the vacuum resistance furnace.

In Germany, it was suggested that let the grinding ferromanganese or manganese be nitrided in a rotary kiln, the process of which is similar to the production of lime nitrogen at 923-1273k, the operation only use very small nitrogen overpressure. In order to make the ferromanganese particles to really "penetrate the nitrogen", it is important that let the furnace rolls constantly. This will have the following effects: Manganese nitride is formed in all particles, and the particles will not be sintered together, but they will remain the same as they come out from the furance. Nitrided ferromanganese in China is usually production in vacuum resistance furnace, the raw materials used is the low-carbon ferromanganese or metal manganese in the solid, after ball milling, briquetting, to make the nitrogen content of alloy is 4% -6% in the 1273-1373K nitrogen atmosphere.
